What you will need

Use the papers in this order.

  1. Before you start, check whether the will is registered or not. Use only the papers marked for your path: "Registered will" or "Un-registered will". Collect these for every beneficiary who is applying.

    Have ready:

    • The original death certificate of the allottee (and of any legal heir who has died, if the Board asks)
    • A copy of the old allotment letter, transfer letter or conveyance deed
    • Registered will: a certified copy of the registered will, or the original
    • Un-registered will: the original will
    • ID proof, Aadhaar card and PAN card of each applicant
    • Three passport-size photographs of each applicant
    • Two witnesses for the indemnity bond, with a copy of their ID proof
    • Un-registered will: the witnesses of the will, and the other legal heirs, who will each sign an affidavit
  2. Registered will: fill in the transfer application by hand, in block letters. The beneficiaries apply to the Secretary, CHB.

  3. Registered will: print the beneficiaries' affidavit on judicial stamp paper of ₹5 or more, sign it and get it attested by a Notary Public or Executive Magistrate.

  4. Registered will: print the indemnity bond on stamp paper of ₹15 or more and sign it in front of your two witnesses.

  5. Registered will: fill in and sign the agreement with CHB for the lease rights. The Board names no stamp-paper value for it, so ask at the counter.

  6. Registered will: paste three photographs of each applicant on the sheet and sign partly on the photograph and partly on the sheet.

  7. Un-registered will: fill in the transfer application by hand, in block letters. The beneficiary of the will applies to the Secretary, CHB.

  8. Un-registered will: print the applicant's affidavit on judicial stamp paper of ₹5 or more, sign it and get it attested by a Notary Public or Executive Magistrate.

  9. Un-registered will: each of the other legal heirs signs the affidavit of other legal heirs, printed on judicial stamp paper of ₹5 or more and attested by a Notary Public or Executive Magistrate.

  10. Un-registered will: each witness of the will signs the witness affidavit, printed on judicial stamp paper of ₹5 or more and attested by a Notary Public or Executive Magistrate.

  11. Un-registered will: print the indemnity bond on stamp paper of ₹15 or more and sign it in front of your two witnesses.

  12. Un-registered will: fill in and sign the agreement with CHB for the lease rights.

  13. Un-registered will: paste three photographs of each applicant on the sheet and sign partly on the photograph and partly on the sheet.

  14. Both paths: pay the publication and processing charges (online on the CHB website, or at any HDFC Bank branch), then hand in the whole set at the Reception Counter, CHB. The Board says it takes 25 working days, not counting the public notice period.

    Have ready:

    • The receipts for the publication and processing charges

Official forms

These are the office’s own blank forms. Print them and fill them in by hand. They are free and do not count towards your daily downloads.

Tell us the details of this deal once. Each document in the kit then opens with those answers already filled in, marked "From kit details", and you can change any of them.

A kit is for one deal: one set of people, one property. For a different deal, start a new kit.

These details stay in this browser tab only. Nothing new is kept on our servers, and closing the tab clears them. They survive signing in with a code in this same tab.

The details of this deal

More than one person? Write the names together in the one box, like "A and B" or "A, B and C". Only the first person’s parentage and address are asked, so only theirs are filled in; add the others’ details on each document before signing.

For example: Harpreet Singh and Meena Kaur

Stamp paper

Our office facilitates e-stamp certificates from authorised Government/ACC Channels and sends them to you. Fill this in and we will call you.
