What you will need

Use the papers in this order.

  1. Before you start, have these ready.

    Have ready:

    • The property’s details and how you hold a share in it
    • The names and addresses of the person or persons who will take your share

  2. Make the relinquishment deed (haq tyag) if you are giving up your right in a family property in favour of the other heirs.

  3. Make the release deed instead when a co-owner is releasing a share to the other co-owners. Use one or the other, depending on how the share is held.

  4. Swear a no-claim affidavit, saying you have no further claim on the share.

  5. After the deed is registered, the person who took the share applies for mutation in the revenue record.
