What you will need

Use the papers in this order.

  1. Before you start, have these ready.

    Have ready:

    • The death certificate and the deceased’s bank account or deposit details
    • Your ID proof and proof of your relationship to the deceased

  2. Make the indemnity bond that the bank asks for before paying the deceased’s account to a claimant.

  3. Write to the bank to claim the deceased’s fixed deposit.

  4. If you are the nominee, write the nominee claim letter to whoever holds the asset: a bank, society, company or authority.

  5. Swear the affidavit that there is no other legal heir, which banks and offices commonly ask for.

  6. Where an office wants proof of who the heirs are, apply for a legal heir (warisan) certificate.
