What you will need
Use the papers in this order.
Before you start, have these ready.
Have ready:
- The amount, interest rate and repayment period agreed between lender and borrower
- The mortgaged property’s ownership papers and address
Make the loan agreement that sets out the amount, interest, repayment and what happens on default.

Make the simple mortgage deed that gives the property as security. It is signed before two witnesses and registered.

If the borrower is married, take the spouse’s written consent to the mortgage.
- Spouse Consent for a Mortgage (made below, with your kit details)
If a guarantor stands behind the loan, make the deed of guarantee. Skip this step if there is none.

After the mortgage deed is registered, apply for mutation so the mortgage is recorded in the revenue record.
