What you will need

Use the papers in this order.

  1. Before you start, collect these papers.

    Have ready:

    • Police papers about the accident, such as the FIR or report, and photographs of the scene and the damage
    • The vehicle’s registration certificate and insurance policy, and the driving licence

  2. If the people involved agree to settle, record the settlement in the road accident settlement deed.

  3. For damage to your own vehicle, send the own-damage claim letter to your insurer.

  4. Only if the police have seized the vehicle, make the superdari application to the court to have it released to you.

  5. For injury or death in the accident, make the claim petition to the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal.
