Relinquishment of Tenancy Rights by an Heir

Answer what you can. The draft beside these boxes is rewritten as you go, so you can see exactly what each answer does to the document.

What you type stays in this browser. Moving to a new step asks this site to draw it, but nothing is kept anywhere until you choose to keep a copy — and closing this tab loses it.

Your answers

Nothing answered yet. There are 11 questions on this form.

Still to answer

10 answers are still to come.

Nothing is amiss in what you have written. The document is simply not finished, and the draft marks each gap where an answer will go.

  1. The tenancy and the parties
  2. What is relinquished
  3. Payment and settlement
  4. Signing

Step 1 of 4

The tenancy and the parties

What is heir address?Needed

A calendar date — the day, the month and the year. Dates in a document like this are read against one another, so a date typed here can change what another date is allowed to be.

What is landlord address?Needed
What premises are involved?Needed
Which jurisdiction applies?Needed
Which tenancy track applies?Needed
More details — you may leave these

A long answer. Several lines are fine, and a break you make between paragraphs is the break the document keeps.

A calendar date — the day, the month and the year. Dates in a document like this are read against one another, so a date typed here can change what another date is allowed to be.

Clearing empties every box on this form, and there is no way back to what was in them.

Document language

This is the document as far as you have reached, not the whole of it yet — the rest appears as you answer more questions. It is rewritten every time you change an answer.

A long blank line — __________ — stands wherever an answer has not been given. It is left that visible on purpose, so an unfinished document cannot be mistaken for a finished one.

No answer has been given, so every place a detail belongs is standing blank. The shape of the document is worth reading even now.

LEGAL BASIS

Punjab: Two rent statutes run side by side, split by the date of letting: premises let before 30 November 2013 stay under the East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949, and premises let on or after that date come under the Punjab Rent Act, 1995. The tenancy succession or continuation question is decided under the Act that governs this letting. This relinquishment binds only the signing heir own claim; it cannot extinguish another independent statutory right or replace the Rent Authority/Controller process. Exact stamp/registration treatment of the specific tenancy-right release was not confirmed.

Chandigarh: The East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949 as extended to Chandigarh governs protected tenancies. This document is not a section 106 notice and is not an eviction order. Any remaining occupant statutory rights are decided by the Chandigarh rent-control forum. Exact stamp/registration treatment was not confirmed.

PERSONAL DATA NOTICE

This notice is given under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

The purpose of collecting personal data in this tenancy-right relinquishment is to identify the deceased tenant, signing heir, landlord and premises and record the limited tenancy claim the heir personally gives up.

If the matter does not proceed, the personal data will be retained for 90 days and then erased. If the matter proceeds, the record will be retained for the matter plus 12 months, except where a statute requires a longer named retention period.

Data minimisation: this document does not collect a full Aadhaar number, an Aadhaar-card copy, a password or bank credentials.

Reading costs nothing. Keeping a copy needs an account.

The opening of the draft is on this page as you answer it. Once every answer is in, the button below opens the whole draft, watermarked — still without an account. Printing it, or keeping a clean copy, is where an account is asked for. That is the whole arrangement.

A kept copy has to belong to somebody, and that is the reason for the account. There is nothing further to it.
