LEGAL BASIS

Punjab: The Punjab Co-operative Societies Act, 1961 governs transfer of cooperative shares. Section 20 restricts transfer of a member's share or interest and the endorsement must follow the registered bye-laws and society register. The society/managing committee receives the first filing and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Punjab is the statutory supervisory authority. The current fee and processing period for this precise filing were not confirmed from the sources used. Section 55 supplies the Registrar dispute route for disputes touching the constitution, management or business of the society.

Chandigarh: The Punjab Co-operative Societies Act, 1961 and Punjab Co-operative Societies Rules, 1963 apply to cooperative societies in UT Chandigarh. Section 20 applies through the Punjab Act/1963 Rules in UT Chandigarh and governs transfer of the member's share or interest. If the matter does not proceed, the personal data will be retained for 90 days and then erased. If the matter proceeds, the record will be retained for the matter plus 12 months, except where a statutory or society-record retention period requires a longer named period.

Data minimisation: this document does not collect a full Aadhaar number, an Aadhaar-card copy, a password or bank credentials.
