A disclosed dispute, delayed payment, or prior proceeding is not by itself an admission of wrongdoing. The recipient should consider the applicant's explanation and any verification material fairly and in context.

If I have authorised verification and have also consented to the Personal Data Notice, I permit __________, acting as __________, to contact the landlord/housing provider and reference whose details I supplied, and to make proportionate enquiries directed to the truth of the information in this application and my suitability for the proposed residential tenancy.

This authority does not authorise the recipient to obtain passwords, private messages, unrelated medical information, or information unrelated to the tenancy decision. It does not authorise publication or general circulation of the information. Detailed identity-document collection, where required, should occur through the separate Tenant KYC and Document Checklist rather than by expanding this screening form.

8A. Personal Data Notice, consent, retention and rights

This notice is given under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

The personal data in this application is collected for the specific purpose of assessing this application to let the Premises, communicating about that assessment, verifying the limited facts and references the applicant has authorised, and, if the application is accepted, carrying the necessary application record into the tenancy file. The recipient named above is the person or organisation holding this application record for that purpose.

The applicant's data may be shown only to the owner of the Premises, an authorised property manager or property consultant involved in this application, and a verification agency specifically instructed to verify information supplied in this application. It must not be used for unrelated marketing merely because it appears in this form.

Retention: if this application is refused, or the applicant withdraws it, the personal data in this application will be retained for 90 days from the refusal or withdrawal decision and then erased. If the application is accepted and the tenancy proceeds, the application record will be retained for the term of the tenancy plus 12 months and then erased, except for any record that a law specifically requires to be retained for a longer named period.

Data minimisation: this screening form deliberately does not ask for or store a full Aadhaar number, Aadhaar-card copy, PAN, bank-account details, salary slips or other detailed KYC documents. If identity or financial documents are required after screening, they should be collected through the separate Tenant KYC and Document Checklist. Where Aadhaar-based identity is later offered, a masked Aadhaar and an alternative identity route should be available.

By signing this application after selecting consent, I confirm that I have read this Personal Data Notice and consent to the collection, use, limited disclosure and retention described above for the stated tenancy-screening purpose. I understand that I may withdraw that consent through the contact route printed above.

1. 9. Accuracy and applicant declaration

I understand that a materially false statement or deliberate omission may cause the recipient to reject the application or, if discovered after a tenancy is lawfully created, may be relied upon only only in accordance with the executed tenancy instrument and the governing Punjab or Chandigarh tenancy law. Nothing in this application authorises self-help eviction, forcible dispossession, or disconnection of essential services.

I understand that submitting this application does not oblige the landlord or recipient to accept me as tenant and does not oblige me to take the premises. Acceptance, if any, should be communicated separately and the tenancy should be documented in the appropriate agreement before possession is handed over.
