Chandigarh applies its own Schedule I figure and its Estate Office accepts a notarised affidavit in place of one attested by an Executive Magistrate, though that practice concerns property records rather than academic ones. Many Boards and Universities prescribe their own stamp-paper value for this exact affidavit in their admission or migration-certificate rules — where the receiving institution states one, follow it in preference to the general figure. Buy the e-stamp in the deponent's own name.

रजिस्ट्री

Not registrable — an affidavit creates no right in property, so Section 17 of the Registration Act, 1908 does not apply.

नोटरी

Required — sworn before a Notary Public, an Oath Commissioner, or an Executive Magistrate, with the deponent appearing in person with photo identification. Some institutions accept only one of these for this specific affidavit; check the prescribed format before swearing it.

AFFIDAVIT IN SUPPORT OF MIGRATION CERTIFICATE

I, Manpreet Singh, S/o Sh. Kuldeep Singh, resident of House No. 77, Urban Estate, Phase II, Patiala, the student named above, being a major, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:

1. That the student's particulars are: Manpreet Singh, born on 1 April 2026.

2. That the student last attended, and passed, B.A. (Hons.) Economics, Part III from Punjabi University, Patiala, Patiala, Punjab, bearing roll number 2119876 and registration/enrolment number PU/2021/44210, in the year 2026.

3. That this affidavit is sworn for the purpose of seeking admission to another University or educational institution in India. Specifically, admission to a Master's programme at a university in Canada.

4. That the student's name is recorded as "Manpreet Singh Gill" in the matriculation certificate and as "Manpreet Singh" in the Aadhaar card and passport; both refer to one and the same person.

5. That the particulars stated above are true and correspond exactly with the institution's records.

6. That the contents of this affidavit are true and correct to my knowledge and belief, that no part of it is false and that nothing material has been concealed therefrom.

A Migration Certificate is issued under the rules and regulations of the Board or University concerned, and not under a single central statute. Where the receiving institution prescribes its own affidavit proforma, wording or stamp-paper value, that requirement governs and should be followed in preference to this general form.
