When you need it

For a landlord showing a still-occupied rented home to prospective tenants or buyers — a defined period, time windows, notice, visitor limits and photo/privacy conditions. Controlled access, not unlimited entry, since possession can't be bypassed by self-help.

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

No stamp duty — records a limited permission or tenancy fact, not a new interest. New tenancy rights are treated on their true character instead.

Registration

Not compulsory — not a s.17(1)(d) registrable lease, Registration Act, 1908.

Notarisation

Not required — a dated signature and proof of delivery matter more for this permission.

Witnesses

The tenant signs, or gives a recorded electronic acknowledgment; witnesses aren’t legally required.

PERSONAL DATA NOTICE

This notice is given under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Personal data in this document is collected only to record and administer the tenant's limited consent for property showings and appointment coordination, communicate about that purpose, verify the information expressly supplied, and retain an evidentiary record.

The record will be held by Green Residency Owners Association and may be shown only to the landlord, tenant, authorised property manager or property consultant involved in this tenancy, the utility/service provider, society or building manager directly involved in the stated purpose, and a statutory authority where disclosure is required for the transaction recorded here.

If the requested connection, consent or transaction does not proceed, or this document is withdrawn before it takes effect, the personal data will be retained for 90 days from that decision and then erased. A person named in this document may withdraw consent for future consent-based processing, request correction or erasure when the stated purpose has ended, or raise a grievance by writing to support@kagaznama.com. The record-holder should acknowledge and respond within 30 days.
