When you need it

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

An offer letter records an intention to employ, not a concluded contract of service — the candidate has not yet accepted it, and once they do, it is the appointment letter that states the full terms. It is not an instrument the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 charges with duty, whether issued in Punjab or in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, and no stamp paper is needed. Print it on the Company's letterhead.

Registration

Not registrable. Section 17 of the Registration Act, 1908 reaches instruments that create or transfer an interest in immovable property, or specific instruments such as leases — an offer of employment is neither, in Punjab or in Chandigarh, and nothing about this letter changes that.

Notarisation

Not required. Section 4 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 only asks that acceptance be communicated; the candidate's signature on the returned copy is enough to record that, and a notary adds nothing to it.

Witnesses

None needed. The Company's authorised signatory signs the offer and the candidate countersigns to accept — no attesting witness is called for on either side.

Sub: Offer of employment as Senior Business Analyst

We are pleased to offer you employment with Northline Analytics Private Limited ("the Company"), a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, having its address at Plot No. 8, Phase 8-B, Industrial Area, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) 160055, on the following terms.

  1. 1. POSITION. You are offered the position of Senior Business Analyst in the Client Analytics department, reporting to Anita Verma, Associate Director.
  1. 2. WORK LOCATION. Your place of work will be Unit 305, Third Floor, Tower B, Bestech Business Tower, Sector 66, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), subject to the Company's ordinary right to reassign your work location in the course of its business.
  1. 3. NATURE OF ENGAGEMENT. You are offered employment as a full-time, permanent employee of the Company, subject to a probationary period of 6 months from your date of joining, on the terms the appointment letter will state.
  1. 4. DATE OF JOINING. Your proposed date of joining is 3 April 2026.
  1. 5. COMPENSATION. Your annual cost to the Company (CTC) will be ₹9,60,000 (Rupees Nine Lakh Sixty Thousand only), made up as follows: Basic Rs 4,00,000; HRA Rs 2,00,000; special allowance Rs 2,60,000; retiral benefits Rs 1,00,000. The break-up, deductions and statutory contributions will be detailed in your appointment letter and payslip, and are subject to the Company's compensation policy and to applicable tax and labour law.
  1. 6. CONDITIONS. This offer is conditional upon the Company completing a satisfactory background, reference and educational qualification verification of the candidate. This offer is further conditional upon the candidate being certified medically fit to perform the duties of the position by a registered medical practitioner nominated or approved by the Company.
  1. 7. ACCEPTANCE. Please signify your acceptance of this offer by signing and returning a copy of this letter to hr@northlineanalytics.com by 2 April 2026. If we do not receive your acceptance by that date, this offer will lapse without further notice.
  1. 8. NOT A COMPLETE CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT. This letter records the principal terms on which the Company is willing to employ you and is not, by itself, the complete contract of your employment. On or before your date of joining, the Company will issue an appointment letter recording the full terms of your employment, including probation, working hours, leave, notice period, termination and confidentiality, and it is that appointment letter, read with the Company's policies then in force, that will govern your employment once you join.
